Hi Everyone, I'd like to introduce this month's 'meet a gooner' for August, Grant de la Cruz.

1. When and why did you start supporting Arsenal FC?:

This was around 96/97. Everyone that I knew at the time was either a Man United or Liverpool supporter. I dared to be different and chose Arsenal. The funny thing is in those days I never really had access to watching any of the games so I started following their results on Sunday Argus. I would make sure to check the results and league table. Nowadays I don’t miss a game.

2. Who would be your all-time favourite Arsenal player?:

The man tattooed on my arm, Thierry Henry!

3. Who is your current favourite player?:

Mr assist himself, Mesut Ozil.

4. What is your favourite memory of Arsenal?:

I have a few. There’s the invincibles season which is probably most gooners' favourite memory. The outrageous Henry goal against Man United, the exquisite Bergkamp goal against the Magpies, Ray Parlour’s goal against Chelsea in the FA Cup final and experiencing the FA Cup win against Hull at Bounce after all those trophy laden years.

5. What are your thoughts on the Arsenal Cape Town supporters club?:

Hats off to Warren and the team for starting such an amazing project. I say project because its ever-growing and they are doing absolutely amazing work within the community, the sky is the limit with this supporters club.

The first time I walked through the doors I knew absolutely no one and the incredible welcome I received was heart-warming to say the least. Now, I’m like furniture over there and the unbelievable atmosphere is second to none.

7. How did you find out about the supporters club?:

I used to drive past the then “Gunners on Main” and said to myself I need to go there for a game. One day I went in and the rest is history.

8. Tell us a bit about yourself (outside of Football and Arsenal):

I am a bit of a BMW enthusiast. I love getting inked and I enjoy my PS4!
